REVELSTOKE MOUNTAIN RESORT
August 11 – Kathy Cooper, KRT CEO, travelled to Revelstoke to experience the much talked about Pipe Mountain Coaster at Revelstoke Mountain Resort. The day started with a ride on the Revelation Gondola to Revelation Lodge for a wonderful buffet breakfast. The lodge offered incredible views of the Columbia River and valley below the Monashee Mountains. Then it was off to the start of the mountain coaster – this exciting new attraction features blind corners, drop offs and twisting & turning across the ski runs and through a tunnel, eventually depositing you at the finish in the Village Plaza. And, the ride will leave you wanting to do it several more times!
RMR has seen incredible numbers of people riding the Pipe this summer. Be forewarned, arrive early to avoid a lengthy wait. The Pipe opens at 10am and the single-track coaster drops 279 vertical metres (915 feet) over a 1.4 km (.87 mi) of high speed rail. While you are waiting, there is plenty to enjoy in the village with a day spa, two food establishments, the Rockford Grill and the Baguette, as well as shopping and if you are staying at the Sutton Place, you can always hang out at the beautiful pool and hot tub area. As well, the city of Revelstoke has much to offer in the way of shops, restaurants, sightseeing and attractions. And, unlimited hiking and outdoor enjoyment in Mount Revelstoke National Park.
