Panorama wins employees first award 2011

On October 28, 2011, the annual BC Tourism Awards Gala was held, at the BC Tourism Industry Conference in Victoria.

During that occasion, go2, the Resource for People in Tourism, presented Panorama Mountain Village with the Award that recognizes BC tourism industry businesses’ excellence in human resources and people management.

Accepting the Award was Rick Jensen, President/CEO of Panorama Mountain Village, from Invermere.

“We realized immediately that to deliver the quality of guest experience we wanted, we needed to create a company culture committed to delivering exceptional experiences. The only way to build that culture is to invest in our employees creating both personal and professional growth. It’s an honour to have our efforts being recognized by go2, the Tourism Industry Association of BC and the Ministry of Jobs, Tourism and Innovation,” says Rick Jensen.

Panorama Mountain Village shows a high staff retention rate, which is a direct result of the focus of effort that is being done towards employees’ self-accomplishment and well-being.

The locally owned, year-round resort had also recently been named 2011’s ‘Mountain Resort of the Year by the BC Alpine Association’.

With a labour shortage predicted for the tourism industry in the upcoming years, the competition for qualified staff between employers will surely increase. Incidentally, building a comprehensive Human Resource strategy must become a priority for the tourism businesses that want to keep the quality standards of their products and services high.

Panorama Mountain Village can surely be showcased as a ‘Best Practice’ case.
