For a municipality, 50 years is just getting started, as District of Sparwood Mayor Cal McDougall stated during a community celebration in Titan Park this May. Several hundred residents gathered to mark the district’s 50th anniversary, forming a giant 50 in front of the Titan truck for an aerial photo.
The town of Sparwood is the gateway town to the Kootenay Rockies region from Alberta on Highway #3. The ultimate monster truck, the Terex Titan, stands silently at the entrance – a monument to Sparwood’s major industry. Just beyond this alpine community exists a treasure trove of adventure – fly-fishing in pristine lakes & rivers and hiking & biking on old forestry roads.
